Arthur M. “Marty” Quaas passed away December 3rd, 2025 in Palmer, Alaska.
He and his late wife, Agnes, moved from California to Alaska in 1993 and built a homestead and became part of the community. Marty worked as a senior meteorologist for Rockwell for 33 years before retiring to Alaska.
Marty was passionate about model railroading, serving as the ‘CEO’ of the Consolidated South Western Model Railroad for over 30 years. People would see he and Agnes with the ‘Mooselip’ layout frequently at the Palmer Railroad Depot and model railroad conventions.
As part of Marty’s final wishes we hosted a memorial operating session of the CSWRR. This session was hosted December 20, 2025 at 11am AST at the CSWRR.
This recording is from that memorial session. Thank you to Alan for recording.
We are forever thankful for the joy Marty brought us. His memory will always be with us.
